Possible sighting of person of interest in Morgan Harrington case in Lexington

AFP

HARRINGTON_FBI_WANTED_ASPosterLexington Police reported Tuesday that it had received a tip of possible sighting of a person of interest in the 2009 Morgan Harrington murder case, and Washington and Lee University shared the news with students as a precaution.

According to the W&L student alert, the tip came in to Lexington Police several days after the sighting, and police have not made contact with the person of interest.

The news of the possible sighting comes as police in Charlottesville continue their search for a missing UVA student, Hannah Elizabeth Graham, 18, who was last seen in the overnight hours Saturday morning, and whose disappearance has echoes of the Harrington case from four years earlier. As in the Harrington case, Graham was reportedly visibly intoxicated and walking alone at night in Charlottesville.

Harrington, a Virginia Tech student, went missing after leaving a Metallica concert on Grounds at the University of Virginia at the John Paul Jones Arena in October 2010. Her remains were found four months later on a farm in rural Albemarle County just off Route 29.

Search efforts continue in the Graham missing persons case, with Albemarle County Police, Virginia State Police and the fbi assisting Charlottesville Police in the search.
