2020

• Senate Bill 4 (SB4) – Passed on May 8, 2020, by the General Assembly, this bill authorizes that the Maryland State Lottery and Gaming Control Commission may issue retail sports betting and wagering licenses to select sportsbooks that meet the criteria. 

• House Bill 225 (HB 225) – Class A licenses (10) are reserved for Maryland’s six primary casinos to operate retail sportsbooks in-house. A further 30 Class B licenses are reserved for retail sports betting platforms to bid on. A further 16 mobile licenses for sports betting are initiated in Maryland. 

2021

• House Bill 940 (HB 940) – Approved by Governor Larry Hogan in April 2021, this bill authorizes licensed retail sports betting platforms to accept wagers on sporting events and markets.
