steve landesDel. Steve Landes, R-Weyers Cave, released the results of the annual 25th House District Survey. The survey, prepared in December, was completed by constituents online or a completed survey was returned by mail.

Approximately 700 constituents completed the 12 question survey where the issues of cutting wasteful government spending, creating jobs and improving the economy, and opposition to the Affordable Care Act and federal government overreach were the top issues identified by constituents.

Landes has conducted a legislative survey each of his 21 years of service in the General Assembly.

“I’d like to thank the constituents of the 25th House District who took the time to complete this 21st annual legislative survey, helping to provide me insight into the thoughts and opinions of the people I work hard to represent,” said Landes. Your responses help keep me focused and informed, as well as aid me in best representing the 25th District in the House of Delegates,” noted Landes.

The 2016 survey covered topics including jobs and the economy, cutting wasteful government spending, health care, K-12 and higher education, Medicaid expansion, and veterans’ issues. The survey results may be viewed online at www.stevelandes.com. Some key results from the survey are:

  • 31% believe that cutting wasteful government spending is the highest priority for the House of Delegates, with creating jobs and improving the economy, and opposition to the Affordable Care Act and federal government overreach coming in second and third respectively.
  • 48% believe cutting government spending is the best way to address budgetary constraints.
  • 62% oppose Medicaid Expansion.
  • 60% believe voters should have the option to register by political party.
  • 51 % believe veterans’ health care is the top veterans’ issue the House of Delegates should address.

Landes represents the 25th House District, which includes parts of Albemarle, Augusta, and Rockingham Counties. Landes is currently serving his eleventh term in the Virginia House of Delegates.
