Notice to Scottsville residents about May town elections

albemarle countyA General Election for residents of the Town of Scottsville will be held on Tuesday, May 3, to elect the Scottsville Town offices of Mayor and the six-member Scottsville Town Council. Polls will open at 6 am at the Scottsville Municipal Building, located at 401 Valley Street, Scottsville, and will close on Election Day at 7 pm.

The deadline to register to vote in this election is Monday, April 11, at 5 pm. If you are not currently registered and wish to vote:

Absentee voting for this election will be conducted by the Albemarle County Department of Voter Registration and Elections. Absentee voting for this election began on Friday, March 18, 2016. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot through the mail for this election is Tuesday, April 26, 2016, except for certain emergencies or military personnel. The completed ballot must be received by the Albemarle County Electoral Board by 7 p.m. on Election Day, May 3, 2016, in order to be counted.

The deadline to apply and vote an absentee ballot in-person at the office of the Albemarle County Department of Voter Registration and Elections for this election is 5:00 pm, Saturday, April 30, 2016. For in-person absentee voting, in addition to regular office hours, the office of the Albemarle County Department of Voter Registration and Elections will be open on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Click here to learn more about absentee voting.

Please note that, due to a recent change in Virginia law, voters who do not present acceptable identification at the polls, and in-person absentee voters, will be required to vote a provisional ballot. For a complete list of acceptable forms of identification,click here.
