The Waynesboro Police Department is investigating a rash of break-ins to food service related businesses, including two downtown restaurants, in a two-day period. All total, three buildings were targeted with the assailants successfully entering two. In the third incident, a front door was damaged but the business was not entered.
On August 18 at 7:30 a.m., officers responded to the concession stand at War Memorial Pool in Ridgeview Park, 700 S Magnolia Avenue, to investigate a burglary. Sometime overnight on August 17, assailant(s) forced opened the entrance to the stand and pried open cabinets apparently looking for money but finding none. The break-in resulted in several hundred dollars in damages.
On August 20 at 6:50 a.m., officers responded to Ciro’s Pizza, 901-B W Broad Street, for a report of a suspected break-in. Upon arrival, officers found a front glass door had been totally smashed and the restaurant’s cash register had been stolen. The burglary occurred sometime overnight. In addition to the cash register, the assailants stole nearly $600 in cash and caused $1000 in damage.
Approximately an hour later, officers responded to The Purple Foot, 1035 W Broad Street, because it appeared someone tried to smash the window on the front door. Although the window was broken, it did not appear that the assailant(s) were able to get inside the restaurant. The damage estimate is about $300.

Information given to Crime Stoppers may be given anonymously. Callers with information that lead to an arrest in this case are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1000.
