WSC is looking for 40 dedicated individuals to create 4 Teams of 10 volunteers each to operate Bingo. Volunteers should have a very strong desire to: help raise funds to offset the more than $100,000 reduction in VPAS’ federal funding and avoid a reduction in critical services to older adults; provide an evening of entertainment to upwards of 100 individuals, most of whom are older adults; increase the public’s awareness of WSC; work with a Team of like-minded individuals; and have some fun!
Bingo will be held every Thursday evening, except on national holidays. Doors will open at 4:30 pm; Bingo starts at 6:30 pm, and ends by 9:30 pm. The WSC Kitchen will offer food and beverages. Each Volunteer Team will operate Bingo on the same Thursday each month, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or 4th Thursday, sharing a fifth Thursday.
A volunteer’s initial commitment of 6-12 months, beginning in September, is desired; time is needed to master the volunteer’s responsibilities and build the Teams. The number of hours a volunteer serves depends on the position.
Each Team consists of the following positions: Bingo Manager (1/Team), Bingo Greeters (2/Team), Bingo Caller (1/Team), Bingo Cashier (1/Team), Bingo Floor Workers (3/Team), Kitchen Workers (2/Team). Volunteers may work on more than one Team.
All volunteers receive extensive training, wear a provided uniform of a WSC volunteer shirt and name tag, and receive a free meal.
