March Madness mobs Richard Adams Show

Contributors

With only days before the Ides of March, the Richard Adams Variety Show will bring its own form of March Madness to audiences at WTA’s Gateway.  The 7:30 pm show will feature Elvis, Sound Direction, and Kathy Walton LaFon. The evening will also mark the sixth month anniversary for Richard’s Variety Show. A celebration is in the air.

Bob Lunger, as the King, has been coaxed back for a return engagement with promise to share his unique “Cooking with the King.”  The last time Elvis visted the Richard Adams show he made his Mama’s famous sandwich, a culinary treat only found in Memphis.  This month’s recipe will be another Southern gourmet delight.

Also on the Variety hour will be Sound Direction an a cappella sextet made up of three couples from the Shenandoah Valley, Betsy & Keith Dishman, Kim & David Tate and Bettie & John Tindall. Imagine a sound with the tight harmonies of a jazz ensemble, the street corner appeal of American doo-wop and the vocal purity of a choir, and you’ve got Sound Direction. The group performs a wide variety of music including vocal jazz, popular standards, spirituals, novelty numbers, folk tunes and seasonal music.

Rounding out the Richard Adams Variety Show will be singer Kathy Walton LaFon and the Mystery Dancer of the Month. A native of Staunton, LaFon graduated from JMU in 1988 with a degree in Theory and Music Composition and currently serves as the Director of Music and Worship at Memorial Baptist Church. For 17 years, she was the lead singer in the band, Rumours.

Hosting the evening will be Richard Adams with his side-kick Bill Martin who is running for President on the Coffee Tickets.  They will reveal plans for the one-day-only, Presidential Campaign Event in Dooms, Virginia.

Reserved tickets for the Richard Adams Variety Show are $9.99 and are available online at www.wtagateway.com or by calling 540-943-9999.  Remaining tickets will be available at the box office on the night of performances.

Snacks and beverages are available.
