Gonzalez (2-1) gave up three runs on five hits in five innings of work, striking out five and walking four.

Tommy Hunter and Kevin Gausman shut down the Sox from there, giving up just a single baserunner in four innings of scoreless relief.

Adam Jones hit his fifth homer of the season, a two-run shot in the first, and Ryan Flaherty hit his second, a solo shot in the second inning.

Jones had four hits and five RBI, and now has 16 RBI on the season, and a .457 batting average.

Rick Porcello (1-2) took the loss for Boston, giving up eight runs on 12 hits in five-plus.
