VDOT Culpeper District Road Report: July 14-18

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Line painting in both directions and on ramps. Work will occur overnight Monday-Tuesday utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Route 29 (Monacan Trail) – Pipe replacement approximately one mile south of Interstate 64. Lane closures will occur in both directions. Motorists should expect delays and use caution in the work zone.

Routes 640, 665, 708, 1151, 1157, 1158, 1159, 1160, 1161, 1170, 1197 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Routes 250, 601, 614, 631, 632, 643, 649, 652, 665, 668, 671, 699, 706, 708, 774, 804, 805, 854, 1428 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 626, 627, 633, 715, 719, 726, 801, 859, 875, 1112, 1270 – Surface treatment and striping. Traffic will be controlled by flagging. Expect minor delays.

Routes 627, 630, 703, 735, 774 – Machining and grading gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Routes 635, 743 – Pipe cleaning. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 641 (Burnley Station Road) – Pipe replacement. Work will occur Monday-Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Motorists should be alert, reduce speed and follow directional signs and traffic controls as they drive through the work area.

Routes 673, 742 – Maintenance of drainage ditches. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working along the shoulders and in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Route 708 (Dry Bridge Road) – Bridge replacement. Road closed with traffic detoured via Route 787 (Gillums Ridge Road). Anticipated completion September 2014.

Route 692 (Plank Road) – Pipe replacement. Work will occur Tuesday-Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the road closed during work hours only between Route 250 (Rockfish Gap Turnpike) and Route 691 (Ortman Road). Motorists should use the posted detour route.

Routes 1720 (Timberwood Pkwy), 1721 (Timberwood Blvd) – Paving. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

 

Culpeper County

Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Bridge deck washing on various structures between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Line painting in both directions. Work will occur overnight Wednesday-Friday utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Route 681 (Jacobs Ford Road) – Pipe replacement. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 751 (Dragoon Road) – Pipe replacement. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Town of Culpeper

Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway) – Construction of roundabout at Route 229 (Main Street). A new traffic pattern is in effect using a temporary signal.

The northbound and southbound lanes will be limited to one lane of traffic within 1,000 feet of the intersection between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

Route 229 (Main Street) – Construction of roundabout at Route 15/29 Business (Madison Highway). A new traffic pattern is in effect.

Lane closures will occur from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 7 a.m. to 3:30

p.m. Friday. Motorists should expect minor delays, reduce speed and follow traffic controls.

 

Fauquier County

Route 15/29 (James Madison Highway) – Line painting in both directions. Work will occur overnight Wednesday-Friday utilizing a mobile work zone. Motorists should use caution around slow-moving vehicles and pass only when conditions are safe.

Route 710 (Rectortown Road) – Milling and paving from Route 55 (John Mosby Highway) to Route 713 (Maidstone Road). Flagging will occur. Motorists should expect delays.

Route 733 (Wilson Road) – Milling and paving from Route 647 (Crest Hill Road) to Route 738 (Wilson Road). Flagging will occur. Motorists should expect delays.

 

Fluvanna County

Routes 602, 605, 606, 624, 638, 647, 656, 659, 685, 690, 1101 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment, educe speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Contractor is continuing site-clearing work and will begin installation of shoring materials at the bridge abutments. Some work will require temporary lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Contractor is excavating on both sides of the river and beginning construction of the new bridge on the east side of the river. Some work will require temporary lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area.

 

Greene County

Routes 29, 33, 628, 642, 810 – Mowing along shoulders and intersections. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment, reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 33 (Spotswood Trail) – Pipe cleaning. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 642 (Entry Run Road) – Machining, grading and application of dust control on gravel roads. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment working in the roadway; brief delays possible.

Routes 608, 609 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

 

Louisa County

Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – Milling from Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) to the Spotsylvania County line. Flagging will occur Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists should expect delays.

Routes 613, 615, 639, 640, 649, 686, 694, 759, 1086 – Debris removal and mowing along shoulders, intersections and crossovers. Motorists should be alert for slow-moving equipment, reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Madison County

Routes 15, 230, 231 – Bridge deck washing on various structures between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Routes 625, 640, 657, 665 – Pipe replacements. Motorists should follow directional signs and traffic controls as they drive through the work area.

 

Orange County

Route 15 (James Madison Highway) – Bridge deck washing on various structures between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

 

Rappahannock County

Route 231 (FT Valley Road) – Bridge deck washing on various structures between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. Flagging will occur; expect brief delays.

Route 622 (Gid Brown Hollow Road) – Pipe replacement at the intersection of Route 614 (Keyser Run Road). Road closed to through traffic July 15 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Route 604 (Round Hill Road) – Placing of shoulder stone from Route 707 (Slate Mills Road) to Route 522 (Sperryville Pike). Flagging will occur. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 640 (Battle Mountain Road):

· Pipe replacement approximately one mile south of Route 211 (Lee Highway). Road closed to through traffic July 17 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

· Placing of shoulder stone at Route 729 (Richmond Road). Flagging will occur. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 641 (Aileen Road) – Paving and placing of shoulder stone from Route 522 (Sperryville Pike) to Route 606 (Fodderstack Road). Flagging will occur. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 707 (Slate Mills Road) – Paving from Route 604 (Round Hill Road) to the Culpeper County line. Flagging will occur. Motorists should expect brief delays.
