policecar3The driver in Saturday morning’s hit-and-run crash on West Main Street in front of Chauncey’s Smokehouse and Bar on West Main in Waynesboro has come forward, but police are not releasing the name of the driver or the 28-year-old victim who is still in critical condition at the UVA Medical Center.

A press release issued Sunday reported that the driver has spoken with Waynesboro police officers and provided a statement.  Also, the vehicle involved has been located.  Charges are pending.

However, the investigation remains open and the Waynesboro Police Department still requests that witnesses to either the Chauncey’s fight or the subsequent hit-and-run crash contact officers working the case at any of the phone numbers in the original release.
