The theme for the July session is Summer eSCAPES. Descriptions for each class are as follows:
Landscapes (ages 4-5) taught by Liz Holroyd (Augusta County art teacher): Take a closer look at the natural environment around you and explore the works of famous landscape artists. With those inspirations, skillfully create your own landscape renditions using a variety of media.
Sunsational Seascapes (ages 6-8) taught by Lynn Lough (art educator and studio artist): Let’s go to the beach! See how Renoir, Homer, and other well-known artists conveyed ocean scenes. Apply different techniques to portray the variety of textures found at the beach from foamy water to rough sand to steaming sun.
Cityscapes (9-12) taught by Trina Graham (Augusta County art teacher): Leave the gently rolling Blue Ridge and explore the hard edges and geometric shapes of the big city. Borrow from professional artists’ techniques to convey on art paper the city’s hustle and bustle, the bright lights, and the cacophony of noise. Become a powerhouse of urban creativity.
