Rewire your circuit breaker only with a licensed electrician

Contributors

If you’re remodeling your home, especially if you have to deal with the wall outlets, you may be needing to rewire your circuit breaker at home. A lot of times, whenever someone redoes a room, they do things like add more outlets, light fixtures, and more. If you’re doing this, you want to make sure that you rewire your circuit breaker only with a licensed electrician who can do the job for you. In this article, we’re going to explain exactly why.

Licensing and Certifications

When you hire an electrician like Green Electric Solutions, always ask to see their license and certification by your state’s contractor department. In order to become a licensed contractor, an electrician has to not only usually go through a school, but they also have to go through extensive training and experience as they go through journeymen’s training to become a certified electrician.

In order to do so, once they become a part of the business, they have to register with the state. This makes them more secure and credible, and you should never have to worry about asking for that information. Because of this, many licensed electricians know about all of the government regulations and codes needed in order to maintain a standard.

They’re Insured

A licensed contractor is more often than not, completely secured by their own insurance. If you don’t know if a contractor is (or even if you do), it doesn’t hurt to see and get the insurance information in case there is an electrical accident. If you don’t get their information, or they refuse to give it to you, or if they don’t have any, you may be held liable for anything that happens on your property to them. Just ask Wal-Mart, who’s still dealing with a case during their re-modeling sessions.

Certified Electricians are Properly Trained

You may get someone who claims they know what they’re doing, but if they’re not certified, there may be times that they aren’t. This is strictly important not only for their safety, but also for yours. Improper installation of circuit board items can lead to numerous problems, which range from electric shock, all the way to being a fire hazard in your home. Because of this, you want a contractor who has a good head on their shoulders and has had to because they’ve got the experience of doing electrical work for a long period of time, along with all of the certifications they need in order to not only do a quality job, but to do it safely.

Report Any Unwanted Behavior

There are times when customers get charged with something, and the customer didn’t know what for. In these situations, your contractor may have done work without questioning you about it or without talking to you, which is not acceptable. Other times, they may end up not even doing the work (which happens a lot more than one thinks with uncertified electricians). If you hire a professionally certified and licensed electrician, you’re going to get that which you need in some way shape or form. Also, you’ll be more secure to know that they will do the work, and do it the right way.
