The Virginia Educators Association (VEA) recognized Del. Sam Rasoul (D-Roanoke City) this past week with its “Solid as a Rock” award, indicating a 100 percent rating for his 2015 voting record. This is the second year in a row that Rasoul has received a 100 percent rating from the VEA.
Rasoul backed budget amendments that gave pay raises to teachers and did not cut funding for K-12 education. He supported measures to do away with the A-F school grading system and opposed ones that would divert funds away from public schools, all of which were part of the VEA’s 2015 legislative priorities.
