Similar to 1Gbps wavelength service, Lumos anticipates increased adoption as enterprise demand increases. Similar to other 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps wavelength services, also available on the Lumos Network, 100Gbps allows customers to operate their own networks by constructing robust backbone infrastructures. 100Gbps wavelength serviceprovides greater throughput, superior latency performance, and route diversity demanded by Enterprise and Carrier customers. It also provides the necessary transport bandwidth for high capacity applications such as cloud computing, on-line data storage back up, and collocation service centers.
From a cost perspective, 100Gbps wavelength is more economical than operating multiple 10Gbps wavelengths saving the customer capital expense for equipment. Additionally, 100Gbps provides infrastructure to allow the customer’s packet network to run more efficiently, while being easier for customers to manage as a result of fewer links between nodes.
