jamesmadisonlogopurplepcStudents from Ohio, New York, Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts and Virginia will construct and test wind turbines at the 2015 Eastern Regional KidWind Challenge on Saturday, April, 25 at James Madison University. The event will be held in the Integrated Science and Technology building on the JMU campus east of Interstate 81.

Prizes of  $750, $500 and $250 will be awarded to teams that place first, second and third respectively. To win, students must build a turbine that produces the most electricity in volts.

Students qualified for the competition by winning challenges in their state.

The event was organized by JMU hospitality, engineering and ISAT students to promote, inform and engage students in wind energy. The event is sponsored by Dominion Virginia Power Co.
