House Republicans kick up heat on ObamaCare

Chris Graham

The House voted 261-157 on Friday to pass legislation styled the Keep Your Health Plan Act, which would allow insurers to keep offering individual health coverage plans in 2014 that don’t meet the minimum requirements of ObamaCare.

Robert_HurtThirty-nine Democrats joined the Republican majority in the vote, distancing themselves from President Obama a day after he announced an administrative fix to the Affordable Care Act that will allow insurance companies to renew policies that do not meet health law standards through the end of 2014.

Fifth District Republican Congressman Robert Hurt said in a statement Friday that the administrative fix announced by the president “will not repair the underlying issues and flaws that make up this damaging law.”

“In order to stop its devastating effects, we must fully repeal and replace the president’s healthcare law so that patients and doctors are in charge of medical decisions, and not the federal government,” Hurt said. “I am encouraged by today’s passage of the Keep Your Health Care Act, as it brings us one step closer to freeing Americans from the reins of the president’s health care law.”
