The House Democratic Caucus released the following statement on adjourning sine die without a budget:
“It is impossible to separate a major program like Medicaid from the budget deliberations,” said Democratic House Leader David Toscano. “We are losing $5 million a day of our constituents’ money while leaving thousands of Virginians without access to health care they need; the sooner we decide to act, the sooner we can utilize this money to help our people and our communities.”
“We must end this Washington-style gridlock and find a way to help our citizens and our state by closing the health care coverage gap,” said Democratic Caucus Chair Mark Sickles. “I hope the budget conferees will work on a bipartisan basis to come up with a compromise plan that we can send to Washington for approval, so we have a budget that closes the coverage gap for our poorest citizens and brings our taxpayers’ money back to the Commonwealth.”
