computer-worldThere are nearly 900 mobile apps available in the iPhone app store that help farmers monitor equipment, manage farms off-site and track outputs and labor.

In a recent Capital Public Radio article, Patrick Dosier, an ag tech consultant, said the ag app industry is gaining popularity as younger generations become involved in farming. Many, Dosier said, are “scanning for the new product that’s coming their way that’s going to help them be more efficient.”

Tony Banks, assistant director of commodity marketing for Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, said farmers are constantly looking for ways to do their work more efficiently, “and having an app on their mobile device that can help them with their job is priceless.”

CropLife.com recently identified its picks for best new agriculture apps for 2015: NozzleCalc, AgraScout 2.0, BRANDT Tank Pro, Genuity Rootworm Manager, TigerSul Calculator, Sprayer Calibration Calculator, AGCO Global, SeedStar Mobile, NetIrrigate and Enlist Ahead.
