Science Night Saturday – an opportunity for children ages 4-12 and their families to explore the world of science – will be held at Bridgewater College on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 4-8 p.m. at the McKinney Center for Science and Mathematics. The event is free and open to the public.
From 4-6 p.m., Science Night Saturday will feature a variety of science exhibits and activities including a van de Graff generator for making hair stand on end, aquatic and ocean activities, demonstrations related to physics and chemistry, a fossil exhibit, live reptiles, baby chicks, water pollution education, 3D printing, virtual reality and a presentation titled “Science of Star Trek.”
From 6-8 p.m., the event will feature an astronomy demonstration titled “Size and Scale of the Solar System,” followed by night sky observations, if weather permits.
“Our science clubs always look forward to engaging with children in the community and sharing their love of physics, chemistry, biology, and technology,” said Dr. Deva O’Neill, an associate professor of physics at Bridgewater. “We will offer fun activities for all ages, and we invite the community to share our love of science.”
Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to nearly 1,900 undergraduate students.
