valley mission was awarded $5,070 to supplement its emergency food and shelter programs in the Greater Augusta region.
The selection for valley mission to receive $5,070 was made by an EFSP Local Board, which was charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the region.
The Local Board is made up of religious leaders, civic leaders, community leaders and LROs (local recipient organizations) and is chaired by Cynthia Pritchard, CEO of the United Way of Greater Augusta. The Local Board is responsible for recommending the agencies who received the funds and also any additional funds that may be made available under this phase of the program, and the United Way of Greater Augusta operates as the representative of fema.
To be eligible to receive a grant, local agencies must have met these criteria: 1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive federal funds, 3) have an accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board.
