Bridgewater College welcomes four new faculty members

bridgewaterBridgewater College welcomes four new full-time faculty members for the 2013-14 academic year. The faculty members, who will arrive on campus in late August for meetings before the start of classes on Sept. 3, will join the departments of chemistry, English, mathematics and computer science, and philosophy and religion.

The new faculty members, announced by Carol A. Scheppard, vice president and dean for academic affairs, are as follows:

Ian McNeil joins the chemistry department as a visiting assistant professor. He received a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in mathematics from Bridgewater College in 2008, and a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of North Carolina.

Ashley Lauro has been promoted to full-time instructor of English. During the 2012-13 academic year, Lauro served as an adjunct in the English department. She earned B.A. degrees in professional writing and English from the State University of New York at Cortland and an M.A. in English from James Madison University.

Joining the department of mathematics and computer science as assistant professor of computer science is R. Eric McGregor. He received a B.S. in business management from Excelsior College, an M.S. in computer science from Wichita State University, an M.S. in mathematics from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a Ph.D. in computer science from Clarkson University.

The department of philosophy and religion welcomes Jacob Graham as assistant professor. He earned a B.A. in philosophy from Ferrum College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy from Duquesne University.

Bridgewater College is a private, four-year liberal arts college located in the Central Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. Founded in 1880, it was the state’s first private, coeducational college. Today, Bridgewater College is home to more than 1,800 undergraduate students.
