Wind advisory in effect for Valley

storm-clouds-headerWind gusts to 50 mph and 1 to 2 inches of rain are possible as a line of storms that have wreaked havoc across the Southeast make their way tonight through the Shenandoah Valley.

A Wind Advisory is in effect through 6 a.m. Thursday with sustained winds in advance of the arrival of the front expected in the 30 to 35 mph range. Those sustained winds and gusts possible in the 50 mph range have the potential to bring down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages.

Temperatures will fall rapidly throughout the storm event from highs in the upper 60s to lows tonight in the upper 30s.

Thursday’s forecast calls for dramatically different weather from the past two days, with highs in the Valley in the lower 40s and a chance of snow showers possible after midnight.
