In recognition of the American Heart Association’s National Wear Red Day, RMH is hosting “Walk the Walk” from 11 a.m. until 1p.m. Feb. 3 at the outdoor walking path circling the RMH campus.

Optional group walks, led by an RMH team member, will begin at 11 a.m. and noon, but walkers may come at any time. The event is free and no registration is required.

Guests are asked to park in Lot A and enter the hospital at the Heart & Vascular Center. The first 100 walkers who arrive will receive a free red scarf in recognition of Heart Disease Awareness Month.

Heart Disease is the No. 1 killer in America, according to the American Heart Association. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 27.1 million Americans have some form of heart disease.

In the event of extreme cold or poor weather, call Healthsource at 540-564-7200 to find out if the walk has been postponed. A decision to cancel the walk will be made by 9 a.m. Feb. 3. If the walk is postponed, a make-up date has been scheduled for Feb. 10.
