VMI basketball alum Stan Okoye helps Nigeria qualify for 2016 Olympics

vmi_logo2Nigeria put five players in double figures, sending its squad to a 74-65 win over perennial African power Angola in the championship game of AfroBasket 2015, contested Sunday in Tunis, Tunisia. Former VMI star Stan Okoye played just over five minutes in the game, going 0 for 1 from the field with two rebounds.

With the victory, Nigeria earned an automatic qualifier to the 2016 Olympics. There is no word on when Nigeria’s Olympic roster will be announced.
