steve landesWeyers Cave Republican Del. Steve Landes was named to the conference committee that will negotiate with the Senate on the final 2016-2018 state budget.

Virginia House of Delegates Speaker William J. Howell (R-Stafford) on Thursday also named House Appropriations Committee Chairman S. Chris Jones (R-Suffolk), Majority Leader Kirk Cox (R-Colonial Heights), Delegate John O’Bannon (R-Henrico), Delegate Tag Greason (R-Loudoun), and Delegate Luke Torian (D-Prince William) to the conference committees for House Bills 29 and 30.

The House conferees will negotiate with the Senate on the final budget conference reports.

“The House is leading on important issues like education, healthcare, and domestic violence,” said Landes, the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. “The budget that passed yesterday makes important investments while remaining balanced and protecting taxpayers. Our budget does not include Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion and instead builds on our past work to strengthen the healthcare safety net. This is the right approach for the Commonwealth. I’m grateful to Speaker Howell for once again naming me as a budget conferee. I’m proud of the budget the House has put forth and look forward to working with the Senate conferees to complete our work on the 2016-2018 budget,” stated Landes.
Landes represents the 25th House District, which includes parts of Albemarle, Augusta, and Rockingham Counties. Landes is currently serving his eleventh term in the Virginia House of Delegates.
