Sarvis campaign releases video to highlight debate exclusion

AFP

Kind of an odd way to do this, but … it’s also kind of odd that Robert Sarvis isn’t being included in the upcoming Oct. 24 WDBJ gubernatorial debate.

The Sarvis campaign released a 15-minute video statement by Dr. Astrid Sarvis, Robert’s wife, addressing the decision to exclude the Libertarian nominee from the debate.

If the message is way, way, way too long in delivery, it’s also awkward in how the campaign sent the video to news outlets on Friday, with a tagline in the media release claiming that “Astrid wishes to stress that this video was made at her own initiative and independent of the knowledge of, or participation by, Robert or the campaign.”

(OK, we’ll buy that, especially since the video was shot in portrait. But OK, she shot it. So why didn’t she send it out?)

As of 10 a.m. Saturday, the video had recorded 3,754 views on YouTube, so the message is getting out there.
