Everything about the U.S. Senate campaign is tight – including the battle for campaign cash from Virginians.
In the most recent filing period (May 24-June 30), Democrat Tim Kaine raised $667,000 in donations of $200 or more from Virginians, compared to $409,000 for Republican George Allen, according to a report released today by the Virginia Public Access Project.
Since the start of the race, Kaine holds a slight lead overall – $3.6 million compared to $3.5 million for Allen — in donations of $200 or more from Virginians.
The data does not include donations from PACs, people living outside Virginia and from small donors whose names are not included in Federal Election Commission data.
