virginiaGovernor Terry McAuliffe and First Lady Dorothy S. McAuliffe will light Virginia’s Capitol Tree on the South Portico of the historic State Capitol in a public ceremony on Friday, December 5.

The ceremony will begin at 4:45 pm and will include performances by members of the St. James’s Episcopal Church Parish Choir from Richmond, Virginia, and by members of the Potomac School Choir from McLean, Virginia.

Following the tree lighting ceremony, the public will be invited to walk through the Executive Mansion, meet the Governor and First Lady, and view the Mansion’s holiday decorations.  This year’s decorations will celebrate Virginia’s woodlands and forests and commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Virginia Department of Forestry.  Cider and cookies will be offered to guests as they depart the Mansion.

The Executive Mansion will hold an additional holiday Open House in conjunction with the 28th Annual Court End Christmas on Sunday, December 14 from 1 pm – 4 pm.

In addition, the Executive Mansion will offer extended tour hours during the holiday season.  A schedule of Mansion holiday tour hours can be found at executivemansion.virginia.gov/tours/holiday-tour-schedule-2014/
