Life-saving screenings, talks at Aging Gracefully conference May 8

RMH Senior Advantage presents “Aging Gracefully,” an event promoting healthy aging as a way of life for those 55 and up, 8 a.m.-noon May 8 at the Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene, 1871 Boyers Road.

Health screenings will be offered, including cholesterol, blood pressure, glucose, hearing, depression, memory and more. Registration is required for cholesterol and hearing screenings. Other screenings are offered on a first come, first served basis with a limited number available.

The conference will include the following seminars:

· “Dare to live 100: The Keys to Aging Successfully,” presented by Phil Wendel, Owner of ACAC Fitness and Wellness Centers.

· “What is Palliative Care?” presented by RMH Hospice’s Bunita Delawder.

· “Understanding Pain Management,” presented by RMH Clinical Pharmacist Timothy Ellmers.

Participants also will enjoy exhibits, food demonstrations, exercise samplers and light refreshments.

The event is free for RMH Senior Advantage members. A $10 fee for individuals and $15 for couples covers the cost of the event and a lifetime Senior Advantage membership.
