Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: Oct. 6-10

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled; weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. Items in italics contain new or updated information.

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions MondayFriday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion July 2015.

Interstate 64 eastbound – Paving and installation of pavement markers. Alternating lane closures will occur overnight, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., from mile marker 116 to Route 22 bridge. Motorists should expect minor delays.

Routes 20, 29, 627, 640, 674 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – First phase of Route 29 Solutions adaptive signal control project. Contractor will be removing and installing junction boxes beginning Monday, starting at the Hydraulic Road intersection and working north, with no lane closures required. Motorists should use caution near work zone.

Routes 250, 654 – Stormwater drain cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 630, 648, 663, 664, 665, 667, 708, 712, 715, 716, 717, 719, 743, 769, 792, 793, 819, 1117 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 643, 661 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 688 (Midway Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging MondayFriday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 689 (Burchs Creek Road) to Route 635 (Miller School Road). Motorists should expect brief delays.

Routes 1720, 1721 (Forest Lakes community) – Paving on Route 1720 (Timberwood Parkway) from Route 1731 (Cove Pointe Road) to the end of state maintenance, and on Route 1721 (Timberwood Boulevard) from Route 1720 to Route 29 (Seminole Trail). Flagging will occur daily, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

 

City of Charlottesville

Route 29 (Emmet Street) – Relocation of utilities in median for Route 29/Route 250 Bypass interchange improvement (Best Buy Ramp). Crossover serving Comfort Inn and other businesses will be closed Oct. 5-10. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls near work zone.

 

Culpeper County

Routes 625, 633 – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Routes 634, 636, 637, 643, 647, 652, 660, 662, 663, 680, 685, 688, 716, 788, 802 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 626 (Holly Springs Road) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging MondayFriday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 639 (Holly Springs Road) to Route 611 (Waterford Road). Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 716 (Whippoorwill Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging MondayFriday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 636 (Glebe Way) to the end of state maintenance. Motorists should expect brief delays.

Route 746 (Settletown Place) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging MondayFriday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 714 (Dunkard Church Road) to the end of state maintenance. Motorists should expect brief delays.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. One lane of roundabout is now open. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. MondayThursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Fauquier County

Interstate 66 westbound – Epoxy overlay. Alternating lane closures will occur from mile marker 31 to Route 245 (Old Tavern Road), overnight 6 p.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls.

Routes 17, 821 – Repairs to roadway shoulders and ditching. Motorists should be alert for mobile work zone and construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Routes 211, 684, 749, 806 – Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 639, 651, 656, 681 – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 2015.

Route 728 (Moss Hollow Road) – Pipe replacement. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion October 2015.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion May 2015.

Routes 611, 622, 625, 637, 638, 643, 654, 656, 669, 675 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

 

Greene County

Routes 605, 633, 641, 743 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 614 (Brokenback Mountain Road) – Pipe cleaning. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.

Route 633 (Amicus Road) – Pavement patching. Flagging will occur. Motorists should slow down as they approach the work zone and expect brief delays.

Route 642 (Simms Road) – Pipe replacement. Road closed Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. approximately 0.1 mile west of Route 667 (Middle River Road). Motorists should use alternate route.

 

Louisa County

Route 33 (Louisa Road) – Tree trimming from Route 522 (Cross Country Road) to the Hanover County line. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 613, 624, 625, 733 – Mowing. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Routes 618, 654 Roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 633 (Lasley Lane) – Rural Rustic Road hard-surfacing project. There will be lane closures with flagging MondayFriday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Route 649 (Byrd Mill Road) to Route 613 (Poindexter Road). Motorists should expect brief delays.

Town of Mineral: Surface treatment on the following roads between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists should anticipate minor delays. Traffic will be controlled by flaggers and pilot trucks.

  • Route 618 from Route 601 to Route 700
  • Route 624 from Route 623 to Route 625
  • Route 700 from Route 522 to Route 618
  • Route 1101 from Route 522 to the end of state maintenance
  • Route 1102 from Route 618 to Route 522

Orange County

Rappahannock County

Routes 604, 647, 707, 729 Mowing and roadside trimming. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 615 (Turkey Ridge Road) – Shoulder repairs and ditching. Motorists should be aware of mobile work zones and slow-moving equipment along the road shoulders. Reduce speed and follow traffic controls. Brief delays are possible.

Route 659 (Resettlement Road) – Rehabilitation of Jordan River bridge. Road closed Oct. 6-22. Motorists should use posted detour: Route 659 to Route 606 (Fodderstack Road) to Route 628 (Dearing Road) and back to Route 659.

Routes 662 (Little Long Mountain Road) – Machining of gravel roads. Motorists should obey traffic controls and expect minor delays.
