The March River City Radio Hour celebrates Clyde Edgerton’s Walking Across Egypt, the Augusta County’s “One Book, One Community” project for 2012.  Joining the celebration will be Kathleen Kraft, Marsha Howard and the River City Players with Chris Graham’s Judge Not.  The Radio Hour performances are at 6:30 and 8:00 pm at WTA’s Gateway, 329 West Main in Downtown Waynesboro.

The “One Book, One Community” project began in 2008 with sponsorship from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge and the National Endowment for the Arts.  This year’s book, Clyde Edgerton’s Walking Across Egypt is a delightful story of a spunky woman, a stray dog, a teenage delinquent and the best home cooking in Listre, North Carolina.  The Atlantic Monthly called the novel “An unpretentious, finely-crafted novel that will linger with the readers like the last strains of a favorite hymn.” Radio Hour audiences will get a taste of the “Rollicking” novel.

Appearing for the first time on the Radio Hour will be Kathleen Kraft.  Because of the influence of her singer father, Kat heard a wealth of music as a young girl: campfire songs, church hymns, folk and blues as well as jazz standards, swing, big band, Broadway and 70’s soul. Since 2005, Kat has performed nearly all those genres as lead vocalist with her band, kat & the traveler’s.

Marsha Howard, Waynesboro’s First Lady of Comedy, returns with her own special blend of humor.  A veteran of the Radio Hour, she holds the record for the most appearances by a non-musician in the five-year run of the production.

The River City Players will present Chapter Three of Chris Graham’s Judge Not.  In the previous chapter, Scoop Blitzer (no relation to Wolf) met with Sore Throat, an informant, who revealed the connection between the candidate for mayor and the suspect of the assassination of Judge Rosengardner.  The plot thickens in Chapter Three.

The Guests of the Month will be Becky Kohler and Christiana Shields from the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge, sponsors of “One Book, One Community.”

Reserved tickets for the Radio Hour are $10 and maybe purchased online at wtagateway.com or by calling 540-943-9999.  Available tickets at the box office the evening of the performances.
