Update: Tuesday, 10:54 a.m. VDOT has been notified that the blasting operations will not take place this week. Route 250 Business will remain open to traffic.

Beginning April 15, the brief closures will occur twice daily around 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

First post: Monday, 5:16 p.m. Beginning Tuesday, traffic on Route 250 Business (Ivy Road) in Albemarle County will be stopped twice each day for approximately 15 minutes. The closures, between the Charlottesville city limits and the Route 29/250 Bypass ramp, are necessary during blasting operations by Faulconer Construction Co., Inc. for underground utility work.

The closures are scheduled at approximately 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to allow the blast, followed by cleanup of any debris on the roadway. The closures will continue each weekday for approximately four weeks. The blasting is being done outside the highway right of way, but due to the proximity to Route 250 the road is being closed as a precaution.

Drivers should check www.511virginia.org or the 511 mobile app for updated information about traffic conditions and follow @VaDOTCULP on Twitter for updates.
