Missing person search under way in Shenandoah National Park

shenandoah national parkShenandoah National Park and Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Department are conducting a search for a missing person. Wallace Anderson, 80, of Rappahannock County was reported missing Saturday evening, April 30.

Mr. Anderson is 5’9” and weighs approximately 145 pounds. He is an avid hiker who carries aluminum hiking poles which are also missing from his home. Initial searches covered his property in the Old Hollow Road area and the search has now widened into Shenandoah National Park.

Multiple agencies and organizations are assisting. Over 100 trained ground searchers and multiple dog teams are working to find Mr. Anderson today. No volunteers are needed at this time.
