Defeated Republican State Senate candidate Dan Moxley blasts gay marriage ruling

dan moxleyDefeated 24th District Republican State Senate nomination candidate Dan Moxley issued a response to the recent Supreme Court ruling on the topic of homosexual marriage in the United States.

“I firmly stand with Supreme Court Justice Alito’s dissenting opinion, when he stated ‘[this ruling] evidences…the deep and perhaps irremediable corruption of our legal culture’s conception of constitutional interpretation,’” Moxley said.

“The fundamental principles upon which this country was founded – a strong traditional family, and the right to protect that institution – has been overturned because of the agenda of the court majority,” Moxley continued.  “To quote Justice Roberts – “Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.”

“As we consider the repercussions of this ruling, we need to recognize that our unalienable rights are under attack, that natural law has been abandoned, and an agenda is promoted by a panel that was intended to judge, not legislate.”  Moxley concluded, quoting Justice Scalia’s dissent “This practice of constitutional revision by an unelected committee of nine, always accompanied (as it is today) by extravagant praise of liberty, robs the People of the most important liberty they asserted in the Declaration of Independence and won in the Revolution of 1776: the freedom to govern themselves.”
