newspaperThe Nov. 18 installment of the Charlottesville Reading Series features readings by writers Kate Lynn Nemett and Jordy Yager.

The event is set for 7:00pm at the Bridge PAI (209 Monticello Road). Free and open to the public. Refreshments at intermission.

Kate Lynn Nemett (nee Schirmer) received an MFA in Writing/Poetry from Columbia University in 2006 and a Bachelors of Arts degree from Princeton University in 2003. Her poems have appeared in publications such as The American Literary Review, The Seneca Review, AGNI Online, The Sow’s Ear Review, and MARGIE: The American Journal of Poetry. She is the recipient of the 2008 MARGIE Strong Medicine Poetry Award, The Poetry Center of Chicago’s 2008 Summer Poetry Residency, and co-winner of the 2005 Booker Poetry Prize. Now returned to her hometown of Charlottesville, she is the editorial director for online wedding resource Borrowed & Blue.

Jordy Yager is a freelance journalist who focuses on stories that pertain to poverty and the voiceless. A CHS graduate, he earned a Masters in Journalism from Boston University. For the last decade he’s worked for public radio stations, The Hill newspaper, the Los Angeles Times, Deutsche Welle, Virginia Magazine, C-Ville Weekly, and other news outlets. His writing has won several awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Virginia Association of Broadcasters. Since returning to Charlottesville three years ago, Jordy has kept his cabin lights on and the bill collectors at bay by also working as a carpenter and a children’s culinary instructor.

About the Charlottesville Reading Series
