$2.1 million investment by Columbia Gas of Virginia to upgrade natural gas pipelines in Staunton

columbia gasA $2.1 million investment replacing aging natural gas pipelines in Staunton by Columbia Gas of Virginia will start this week and is expected to  take about six months to complete. The project will result in a modern natural gas infrastructure to meet the needs of Staunton residents and businesses for many years.

This project will take place on the following Staunton streets:

  • Baylor St. (900 – 1000 blocks)
  • Benson St. (400 block)
  • Carter St. (400 block)
  • Donaghe St. (800-900 blocks)
  • Gen Ave. (200-400 blocks)
  • Opie St. (800 block)
  • Overlook Rd. (200 block)

Columbia Gas reminds the community that during the construction some disruptions to normal traffic patterns along the impacted streets may occur. A reminder to please slow down as you approach construction work zones and allow the workers to safely complete their important work. Columbia Gas representatives and contractor, Willbros, can be identified by their marked vehicles and uniforms. In addition, all company and contractor employees will be happy to present their photo identification.

This infrastructure replacement work is part of the $150 million, five-year investment Columbia Gas is making to modernize its natural gas infrastructure across Virginia. The third phase of the Staunton project will occur in 2017 and more information will be provided prior to the construction.
