UVA ROTC race to benefit Wounded Warrior Project
The Air Force ROTC Detachment at the University of Virginia is sponsoring a 5-kilometer race to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, the Charlottesville Police Foundation and the Charlottesville Fire Department.
Called “Honoring Our Heroes 5K,” the race will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. at Darden Towe Park in Charlottesville.
“Our military members who are harmed in combat often have a hard time adjusting to life at home and the Wounded Warrior Project does a great job at supporting those who have been wounded,” said AFROTC Cadet Sean P. Cothran, the race organizer. “We also want to recognize the first responders in our community who work hard to keep our community safe, even if that means they risk their lives for us.”
Pre-registration price is $25 until race day, and $30 on race day itself. Participants will receive a Dri-FIT t-shirt, free food including Chick-fil-A, Chick-fil-A coupons, drinks and Wounded Warrior Project memorabilia.
