The following is a list of highway work that might affect traffic in the Staunton transportation district during the coming weeks. The Staunton district is comprised of 11 counties: Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Augusta, Highland, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Frederick, Page, Warren and Clarke. Work scheduled is subject to change due to inclement weather and material supplies. Motorists are advised to watch for slow-moving tractors during mowing operations. Also, when traveling through a work zone, be alert to periodic changes in traffic patterns and lane closures.

INTERSTATE 64

Mile marker 53.3 to 55.3, eastbound and westbound – Eastbound traffic will detour across the median to the westbound side of the interstate. Both directions of traffic will use westbound Maury River bridge until late 2015 while the eastbound bridge undergoes rehabilitation. Speed limit is 55 miles per hour.

Detours: Eastbound traffic will travel south on Route 717 (Liberty Furnace Road), then south on Route 611 (Supinlick Ridge Road), then east on Route 703 (Jerome Road) then north on Route 705 (Buggy Ridge Road) back to Route 691. Westbound traffic will travel south on Route 705 (Buggy Ridge Road), then west on Route 703 (Jerome Road), then north on Route 611 (Supinlick Ridge Road) then north on Route 717 (Liberty Furnace Road) back to Route 691.

Lane shift and temporary traffic signal at 340/522/55 intersection from north end of bridge to Duck Street. Lane shift and closure of center turn lane from south end of bridge to just south of 17thStreet. Through traffic using 18th Street will detour onto North Royal Avenue and 17th Street.
