Shane Beamer added to Georgia football staff

virginia techNew Georgia football coach Kirby Smart announced the addition of former Virginia Tech associate head coach Shane Beamer to his staff on Tuesday.

Beamer is the son of the legendary Hokies coach Frank Beamer, who retired in December after 29 seasons at his alma mater.

Shane Beamer will serve as the special teams coordinator and tight ends coach at Georgia.

He had been at Virginia Tech the past five years. In addition to serving as associate head coach, he had served as running backs coach at Tech.

Beamer is a 1999 graduate of Virginia Tech.

His coaching resume also includes stops at Mississippi State and South Carolina.
