Snow continues through many areas in the Commonwealth of Virginia today. In the Shenandoah Valley no snow has fallen in the Winchester and Frederick County area and in the Lexington Rockbridge County area heavy snow has fallen for most of the day.
Areas receiving snow are reporting mostly moderate conditions.
Virginia Department of Transportation road crews and contractor crews have been out all day plowing and treating roadways. People are advised to avoid all travel if possible. Always use seatbelts when traveling and do not drive distracted or impaired.
Here are the road conditions as of 5 p.m in the Virginia Department of Transportation Staunton District:
- Interstate 64 – Moderate conditions in Alleghany, Rockbridge and Augusta counties.
- Interstate 66 – Clear conditions in Warren County.
- Interstate 81 – Moderate conditions in Rockbridge, Augusta and Rockingham counties. Minor conditions in Shenandoah County. Clear conditions in Frederick County.
- Primary roads – Moderate conditions in Highland, Bath, Alleghany, Rockbridge, Augusta, Rockingham and Page counties. Minor conditions in Shenandoah County. Clear conditions in Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties.
- Secondary roads – Severe conditions in Alleghany and Rockbridge counties. Moderate conditions in Highland, Bath, Augusta, Rockingham and Page counties. Minor conditions in Shenandoah County. Clear conditions in Frederick, Warren and Clarke counties.
