Lynchburg District Traffic Alerts: Feb. 22-26

Amherst County:  

Route 501/130 (Snowden) – Traffic control/flaggers in use. Expect delays. End: 4/21/17.   

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Appomattox County:  

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Buckingham County:    

Route 20 over Slate River – Traffic delays expected during bridge replacement and construction of approaches. Speed reduced to 45 mph. Estimated completion – December 2017.

Andersonville AHQ – Crews will boom axe on secondary routes.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, brush cut/boom axe, work shoulders and respond to customer requests.

 

Campbell County:  

Route 643 over Falling River – Traffic control in use. Expect delays. Est. comp. 6/10/16.

Route 651 over Bear Creek (Rt. 604-615) – Road closed 3/21 – 6/10/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 606, 615 and back to 651.

Route 701 over Hills Creek (696-699)  – Road closed, detour in place through 4/29/16 for structure replacement. Detour using Routes 696 and 699.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Charlotte County:   

Route 638 over Little Cub Creek – Road closed Jan. 4 through April 8 for structure replacement. Detour in place using Routes 630, 629, and 628. 

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Cumberland County:  

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush and respond to customer requests.

 

Halifax County:  

Route 360 over Dan River – Southbound travel lane closed north of Route 58 for bridge maintenance. Estimated completion March 2016.

Route 691 over Tobey Creek(Rt 659/658 intersection) – Closed thru March 4 for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 659, 662 and 659.

Bethel AHQ – Crews will apply stone around mailboxes/driveway entrances.

Bethel and Volens AHQ – Crews will boom axe.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, work shoulders and respond to customer requests.

 

Lynchburg:

Route 29/460– Be alert to construction traffic entering and exiting roadway. Use caution.

 

Nelson County:  

Route 29 southbound, near Rte. 641 – Pipe jacking may result in lane closures/delays.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs and respond to customer requests.

 

Pittsylvania County:  

Route 29 N over Norfolk-Southern Rail –Restricted to one lane south of Rt 801.

Route 628 over Straightstone Creek (Rt. 900-937) –Closed 2/29 – 6/3/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 640, 900 and back to 628.

Route 726 – Construction underway. Signs/traffic control devices in place. Est.comp-4/29/16. 

Route 1428 over Cattle Pass (Int. 57) –Closed 3/14 – 3/25/16 for structure replacement. Detour via Rt. 57

Brosville AHQ – Crews will ditch. 

Mt. Airy AHQ – Crews will boom axe. 

Gretna AHQ – Crews will clean debris.

Kentuck AHQ – Crews will repair mailboxes and work shoulders.

Mt. Airy and Rondo AHQ  – Crews will work shoulders.

Gretna, Mt. Airy and Rondo AHQ – Crews will place stone at mailboxes.

Various –Crews will work surfaces and respond to customers.

 

Prince Edward County:  

Route 632 over Bush River – Road closed for structure replacement. Detour via Routes 633, 15, 647and 630. Route 632 will be closed between the intersection of Route 633 and Route 630.

Various –Crews will make surface repairs, cut brush and respond to customer requests.

 

District-wide activities: 

Bridge and guardrail maintenance – Crews will perform bridge/guardrail maintenance. 

Bridge-mounted signs – Foundation work underway. Traffic control devices will assist motorists.

Pavement markings – Contractors are applying permanent pavement markings districtwide.
