Republican Donald Trump told voters at a rally in rural Pennsylvania on Friday to be on the alert for widespread “cheating” on the part of Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
“I hope you people sort of not just vote on the 8th, go around and look and watch other polling places and make sure that it’s 100 percent fine,” Trump told supporters at the rally.
Despite polls that have him trailing by double digits in Pennsylvania, Trump insisted that “the only way we can lose, in my opinion, I really mean this, Pennsylvania, is if cheating goes on.”
Campaigns can and routinely do have official observers at the polls to watch for irregularities. What Trump was hyping Friday sounded a little more on the vigilante side.
“Go down to certain areas and watch and study to make sure other people don’t come in and vote five times,” Trump said.
