Blue Ridge Area Food Bank celebrates volunteers during National Volunteer Week

Contributors

BRAFB_Logo_NEWThe Blue Ridge Area Food Bank has announced plans to celebrate National Volunteer Week, a time dedicated to demonstrating to the nation that by working together, we have the fortitude to meet our challenges and accomplish our goals.

National Volunteer Week, April 12 – 18, 2015, is about taking action and encouraging individuals and their respective communities to be at the center of social change —discovering and demonstrating their collective power to make a difference.

Much of the work the Food Bank performs could not be done without the gift of time from hundreds of generous people in the communities we serve. We rely on volunteers each day to help us distribute food to people in need. Throughout the week we will hold luncheons in each service area to celebrate Food Bank volunteers.

Members of the media who are interested in writing about volunteer service or who would like to capture photos this week may contact Abena Foreman-Trice, director of communications, at 540.213.8405 or by email at[email protected]. to set up interviews with our volunteers.
