vdot-logoThe Virginia Department of Transportation Lynchburg District wants to hear from local citizens about prioritizing transportation projects, and will be holding a Fall Transportation Meeting on Tuesday, November 29 to give the public a chance to get the latest information, ask questions, and provide input.

The meeting will be held in the Lynchburg District Ramey Memorial Auditorium, 4303 Campbell Ave., (US 501), Lynchburg, VA 24501 beginning at 4 pm.

This meeting will start with an open house format where attendees can review and provide feedback on the list of proposed local and regional projects that localities submitted to be scored under the SMART SCALE prioritization process (formerly HB2). A town hall style format will follow where the public and transportation stakeholders can engage in discussion and ask questions about the projects. There will be no formal public comment during the meetings.

The meeting will highlight the 27 SMART SCALE applications received from local and regional governments in the Lynchburg District. The applications request approximately $172 million in funding.

Following the public meeting, the projects will be scored through the end of December.   Once projects are scored and reviewed by the public, the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) will select which projects to fund and be included in the next Six-Year Improvement Program by June of 2017.

Displays may be reviewed and comments submitted on line. Comments on rail, public transportation and transportation demand management may be mailed to Public Information Officer, DRPT, 600 E. Main St., Suite 2102, Richmond, VA 23219, or[email protected] and on highway projects to Infrastructure Investment Director, VDOT, 1401 E. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23219, or [email protected].

Comments will be accepted until December 22, 2016.
