Habitat staff earn housing counselor designation

Contributors

Barbi Moon-Theado (left) and Laura K. Knowles (right) of Staunton-Augusta-Waynesboro Habitat for Humanity have completed the required coursework and testing this fall through the Virginia Association of Housing Counselors to achieve the status of Certified Housing Counselor.

The training strengthens the housing counseling profession by assuring that low and moderate income families and individuals are offered the opportunity to live in safe, decent and affordable housing.  Both Knowles and Moon-Theado work with families applying to the Habitat program, helping them through the application process.

SAW Habitat will be starting classes in January for families who would like to learn more about how to achieve homeownership and the Habitat self-help program.   If you are interested in more information or being part of these classes please call (540) 886-1944 ex. 100.
