First Night Harrisonburg seeks additional hands and spirit
First Night Harrisonburg, the community’s New Year’s celebration, is seeking volunteers for its 23rd anniversary event on Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. to midnight. First Night highlights the arts and brings the community together by transforming retail stores, churches, and downtown businesses into performance venues that showcase local and regional talent.
A community event of this size and caliber is no small undertaking. The festival has a rich history and would not be possible without the support of its sponsors, board members, and the many volunteers who graciously give back to our community. Volunteers are needed to help with a number of tasks and activities, including set-up for the event, checking buttons at performance venues, and assisting with children’s activities. Those interested in volunteering should sign up at www.
First Night Harrisonburg 2016 will include many community favorites, such as live music, comedy, children’s activities, a grand finale fireworks show, and more. Button will be sold the night of the event at the Harrisonburg City School Board Office located at One Court Square starting at 6:00 pm for $8. The First Night button will get attendees into a variety of performances and activities throughout the night at venues throughout downtown Harrisonburg.
The public is invited to follow First Night Harrisonburg on Facebook (Facebook.com/
