Brement, Anthony WayneThe Waynesboro Police Department has arrested a city man on several charges after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment and assaulted her.

Officers charged Anthony Wayne Brement, 22 years old, in theMonday night assault that left the 27 year old victim battered from a brutal beating.  On August 10 at approximately 9:30 PM, officers responded to Hopeman West Apartments for a report of a female in distress.  When officers arrived, they found the victim with bruises and marks to her face, neck, chest and arms; however, by then Brement had fled on foot.  A search of the area proved unsuccessful.

According to the victim, Brement and the victim had broken up several months prior.  The apartment management issued a trespass notice to Brement barring him from returning due to his abusive behavior.  The victim said she had come back to her apartment after visiting neighbors and found Brement.  He had entered through an unlocked door.  Brement said he wanted to talk to the victim but after she refused and told him to leave, he became violent.  He grabbed her by the arm and hit her in the face repeatedly.  Only after neighbors heard her screams and called police did Brement leave the apartment.  When he left, he took the victim’s cell phone and car keys.  The victim refused medical treatment.

Officers located Brement several hours later at Parkway Village Apartments and arrested him.  He is faces the following charges:

  • Breaking & Entering (f)
  • Assault & Battery (m)
  • Petit Larceny (m)
  • Trespassing (m)

He is being held without bond at Middle River Regional Jail.
