Culpeper VDOT District Traffic Alert: March 30-April 3

road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or (UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Nighttime work in the median north of Route 643 (Polo Grounds Road) for subsurface soil exploration. No lane closures or traffic impacts are anticipated.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Grading work continues inside the loop ramp on the southwest quadrant of the intersection for installation of a storm water management basin. Clearing and grading will begin behind the barriers from the entrance ramp from Route 29 (Emmet Street) south onto the Route 250 Bypass west to the Barracks Road exit. Motorists should be alert for workers and equipment near the travel lanes. Lane closures will be limited to nighttime hours: 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Scheduled project completion May 2016.

(UPDATE) Route 29 (Seminole Trail) – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the intersections listed below. Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • At Airport Road – Northbound left turn lanes closed overnight Monday. Southbound left turn lane closed overnight Wednesday.
  • At Hilton Heights Road – Northbound and southbound left turn lanes closed overnight Wednesday with traffic directed by police. Motorists can expect signals to be dark and should approach the intersection with caution.

(NEW) Route 649 (Airport Road) eastbound – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Alternating lane closures overnight both Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

(NEW) Route 649 (Profit Road) westbound – Installation of infrastructure for adaptive traffic signal control system. Intermittent lane closures overnight Sunday, March 29, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Motorists should use an alternate route.

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of communications conduit in median. Left shoulder closed in both directions from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta Co. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion is October 2015.

Route 6 (Irish Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Nelson County line to Route 626 (Langhorne Road). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

Route 616 (Black Cat Road) – Replacement of bridge over Buckingham Branch Railroad. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 250 (Richmond Road). Anticipated completion Oct. 15.

Route 637 (Dick Woods Road) – Replacement of bridge over Ivy Creek. Road closed at the bridge with traffic detoured via Route 677 (Bloomfield Road) and Route 250 (Ivy Road). Anticipated completion Aug. 4.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 229, 646 – Debris removal.
  • Routes 601, 613, 621, 625, 649, 657, 663, 669, 692, 802 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 616 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 629, 633, 634, 668, 672, 673, 674, 687, 694, 698, 736, 745, 765, 766, 821 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 637 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Town of Culpeper

Routes 15/29 Business, 229 – Construction of roundabout at intersection. Intermittent lane closures on Route 15/29 Business and Route 229 will occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Motorists should obey traffic controls and proceed with caution through the work zone.

 

Culpeper County

(NEW) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Utility work just east of Stevensburg between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for trucks entering and exiting the highway. No lane closures or traffic impacts are anticipated.

Route 638 (Cherry Hill Road) – Drainage pipe rehabilitation. Intermittent lane closures may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flaggers.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 603, 607, 608, 613, 642, 643, 644, 645, 685, 692, 715, 772, 1071, 1073, 1080 – Pavement patching.
  • Route 616 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 624, 636, 637, 642, 648, 651, 692, 696, 706, 710, 734 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Route 637 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Fauquier County

Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) – Replacement of bridge over Sumerduck Run. Road closed with traffic detoured using Route 17 (Marsh Road) to Route 634 (Courtneys Corner Road) and back to Route 651. Anticipated completion April 27.

Route 723 (Ashville Road) – Repairs to bridge over Interstate 66. Intermittent lane closures may occur between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. for sign installation, with traffic controlled by flaggers.

  • Routes 55 west, 602, 610, 622, 674, 688, 691, 710, 712, 732, 743, 758 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 610, 638, 731, 758 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Routes 623, 628, 673, 674, 681, 682, 684, 685, 694, 702, 703, 704, 705, 708, 710, 711, 715, 716, 724, 739, 761, 780, 800, 801 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 688, 720, 721, 798 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion Nov. 20.

Route 6 (West River Road) – Replacement of the Hardware River bridge. Temporary lane closures may occur, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Anticipated completion Aug. 14.

  • Routes 15, 620 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 600 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 230, 604, 640, 810, 1001, 1020 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 614, 632, 634, 676 – Machining of gravel roads.

 

Louisa County

Route 22 (Louisa Road) – Roadway resurfacing from the Albemarle County line to Route 15 (James Madison Highway). Traffic reduced to one lane between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Routes 613, 636 – Pipe install/repair.

 

Madison County

Route 231 (N. Blue Ridge Turnpike) – Replacement of bridge over Mulatto Run. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Expect delays. Anticipated completion Dec. 18.

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 626, 630, 666, 677, 721 – Machining of gravel roads.
  • Routes 628, 629, 631, 643, 669 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 647, 663 – Pipe install/repair.
  • Route 658 – Debris removal.

 

Rappahannock County

(NEW) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Prep work for roadway resurfacing between Route 1003 (Waterpenny Lane) and Route 9908 (Rappahannock High School). Alternating lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists should obey traffic controls and use caution in the work zone.

(NEW) Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) – Prep work for roadway resurfacing between Route 635 (Hume Road) and the Warren County line. Traffic reduced to one lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Motorists will be directed by flaggers and pilot truck.

  • Route 211 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Routes 211 east, 612, 614, 622, 624, 626, 643, 674 – Pavement patching.

  • Routes 630, 631, 637, 662 – Machining of gravel roads.
