road-work-headerThe following highway work is scheduled, weather permitting, in the Culpeper District during the upcoming week. Traffic movements may be restricted and speed limits reduced in work zones. (NEW) or(UPDATE) indicate revisions since last week’s report.

(UPDATE) Route 29/250 Bypass interchange – Contractor is performing roadway widening along Route 250, installing drainage structures along the Barracks Road ramps and constructing noise walls. Motorists should be alert for equipment entering and exiting the highway.

–        On Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., left lane closed in both directions of Route 250 between Hydraulic Road and Barracks Road.

–        Wednesday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the westbound Route 250 right lane will be closed between Hydraulic Road and Barracks Road.

 

Rio Road grade-separated intersection – Roadway widening and construction of retaining walls, abutments and storm drains continue in the vicinity of the Rio Road intersection. The following work on Route 29 is scheduled Sunday through Friday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

–        Alternating triple lane closures will be in place on northbound Route 29 from Fashion Square Drive to Albemarle Square. Motorists wishing to turn left from Route 29 to Rio Road should use Berkmar Drive as the detour route.

–        Alternating triple lane closures will be in place on southbound Route 29 from Albemarle Square to Fashion Square Drive. Motorists wishing to turn left from Route 29 to Rio Road should use Branchlands Boulevard and Hillsdale Drive as the detour route.

–        Both directions of Rio Road will be closed in the vicinity of the intersection with a single lane open for local business traffic. Motorists wishing to reach Route 29 should follow posted detour signs.

–        Right lane closed at the intersection of Rio Road and Berkmar Drive.

 

Route 29 widening – Median grading, utility relocation and storm-drain installation continues from Polo Grounds Road to Towncenter Drive. The following work is scheduled Sunday through Friday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.:

–        Single alternating lane closures will be in place in both directions on Route 29 between Towncenter Drive and Rio Mills Road.

 

 

Albemarle County

Interstate 64 – Installation of infrastructure and devices for active traffic management system on Afton Mountain. Left shoulder closed in both directions between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday from mile marker 107 (Crozet exit) to mile marker 94 in Augusta County. Motorists should keep right and use caution approaching the work zone. Anticipated completion early March.

Interstate 64 – Repairs to the eastbound bridge over Biscuit Run. Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the right shoulder will be closed on I-64 between mile markers 120 and 121. Motorists should remain alert for workers near the travel lanes, and for equipment entering and exiting the highway.

Route 677 (Broomley Road) – Bridge replacement. Minor finishing work will require intermittent single lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers. Motorists should anticipate brief delays during daytime work hours.

  • Routes 6, 20, 53, 250, 602, 626, 635, 637, 659, 680, 706, 800, 854 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 612, 630, 633, 643, 691, 698, 721, 722, 728, 746, 784 – Maintenance of gravel roads.
  • Routes 633, 649, 665 – Shoulder repair and ditching.
  • Route 696 – Drainage pipe replacement.

 

 

Culpeper County

(UPDATE) Route 3 (Germanna Highway) – Roadway widening to four lanes. Clearing, excavation and utility relocation will occur along the route from Stevensburg to Lignum. Wednesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., single lane closed 1 mile west of Route 669 (Carrico Mills Road) with traffic controlled by flagging. Speed limit reduced to 45 mph in the work zone. Motorists should be alert for workers near the travel lanes and for trucks entering and exiting the highway.

Route 29 (James Madison Highway) – Construction of new interchange at Route 666 (Braggs Corner Road). Intermittent lane closures will occur Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Speed limit reduced to 35 mph on Route 666 and to 50 mph on Route 29 through the work zone. Anticipated completion August 2017.

Route 229 (North Main Street) – Roadway widening to four lanes. Preliminary work will require occasional lane closures with flagging Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Be alert for workers near the travel lanes and for trucks entering and exiting the highway. Anticipated completion August 2017.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 3, 611, 644, 850 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 601, 602, 603, 605, 606, 617, 618, 620, 623, 624, 626, 628, 635, 640, 642, 646, 647, 648, 652, 655, 657, 661, 662, 684, 685, 689, 692, 693, 698, 709, 710, 713, 714, 729, 730, 736 – Maintenance of gravel roads.
  • Routes 601, 602, 611, 613, 621, 623, 625, 628, 629, 633, 638, 639, 640, 642, 643, 645, 657, 663, 685, 691, 711, 714, 729, 737 – Pavement patching.

 

 

Fauquier County

Route 688 (Leeds Manor Road) – Replacing bridge over Thumb Run. Intermittent lane closures will occur from8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion July 2016.

Route 778 (Moore Road) – Drainage pipe replacement underneath the roadway. On Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the road will be closed at Route 738 (Wilson Road). Motorists should use an alternate route.

  • Routes 17, 55, 245, 813 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 602, 606, 607, 609, 610, 611, 612, 616, 640, 649, 663, 674, 721, 732, 738, 742, 767, 806 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 604, 616, 670, 704, 818 – Drainage pipe replacement.
  • Routes 624, 628, 629, 700, 705, 706, 706, 726 – Shoulder repairs and ditching.
  • Routes 628, 680, 694, 705, 706, 708 – Maintenance of gravel roads.

 

 

Fluvanna County

Route 6 (East River Road) – Replacement of the Rivanna River bridge. Road reduced to one lane with two-way traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Motorists should be alert for traffic controls as they approach the area. Anticipated completion summer 2016.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 600, 608, 613, 629, 631 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 606, 609, 611, 678 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 663, 684, 686 – Shoulder repair and ditching.

 

 

Greene County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 33 – Drainage pipe replacement.
  • Routes 600, 601, 614, 624, 629, 630, 632, 634, 637, 638, 642, 650, 676 – Maintenance of gravel roads.

 

 

Louisa County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 600, 694 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 617, 638, 640, 695 – Maintenance of gravel roads.

 

 

Madison County

Route 230 (Wolftown-Hood Road) – Tree trimming in both directions from Route 29 (Seminole Trail) to Route 33 (Spotswood Trail). Single lane closures with flagging will occur Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Expect delays of up to five minutes.

 

 

Orange County

Routine Maintenance Activities

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Routes 602, 603, 605, 606, 617, 620, 623, 647, 652, 655, 661, 662, 684, 685, 689, 692, 698, 709, 729, 736 – Maintenance of gravel roads.
  • Routes 604, 618 – Pavement patching.
  • Routes 614, 644, 658, 682, 757 – Shoulder repairs and ditching.

 

 

Rappahannock County

(UPDATE) Route 211 (Lee Highway) – Tree trimming from the Page County line to Sperryville. Alternating single lane closures will occur Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with traffic controlled by flagging. Expect delays of up to five minutes.

Route 637 (Jericho Road) – Replacement of bridge over Big Indian Run. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures with flagging, Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Anticipated completion May 2.

Motorists should expect brief delays, obey traffic controls and be alert for construction equipment entering and exiting the highway.

  • Route 211 – Trimming and roadside maintenance.
  • Routes 600, 603, 607, 615, 622, 625, 626, 630, 631, 637, 638, 649, 650,656, 662, 681 – Maintenance of gravel roads.
