Community Mennonite Church of Harrisonburg is holding its annual retreat Friday evening through Sunday noon, Aug. 28-30, at Camp Overlook north of Keezletown.

The program theme, “I Have a Dream,” coincides with the 46th anniversary of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s prophetic speech on the steps of the nation’s capitol on Aug. 28, 1963.

Small group workshops Saturday afternoon will be offered in “dream interpretation,” “dreams in scripture,” “making a dream catcher,” “wrestling with angels,” “singing our dreams” and creating a mural.

The retreat opens 7:30 p.m. Friday with a drum circle for all ages led by Mike Deaton and an optional film showing of “The Bucket List” at 10 p.m.

Saturday activities include a full group session for persons to share their dreams for the present and future of the congregation, swimming and organized recreation, a music jam session and contra dancing.

The worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday will be held outdoors, weather permitting. There will be no service at the church.
